First, my apologies for being so silent these days. Freelance has been pretty intense over the past month, and looks like I'll be working right on up to Worldcon. Hopefully, I'll keep a more regular schedule of entries in between.

Now.. on to the rant:

Why I Really Hate Bush

I hate Bush for the same reasons every other sane, right-thinking, compassionate and civilized person hates Bush. I don’t need to go into the details. The laundry list of shame brought about by the current administration is pretty well-known and established.

What really has me hating Bush these days isn’t so much his various criminal acts against this country, its citizens and soldiers, but the fact that he’s forced a lower standard for the office of the presidency. After years of lying to the public, laying international relations to ruin, providing sweetheart deals for family friends, and soiling the Constitution, the actions of the Bush administration make oral sex in the Oval Office lame by comparison.

I’m voting for Kerry. No secret or surprise there. But why? He’s certainly no Bill Clinton, and we need Bill Clinton like we never have before. Of the various Democratic candidates, Clark interested and impressed me the most. Dean was a joke who was pretty much doomed at the outset. But all we have is Kerry, and while I admire his intelligence, his mien, and his character, I don’t find him particularly inspiring. He’s not the ideal choice for president, but he’s the only one we have.

Again, why? Because this election has turned from an opportunity to put our best and brightest in the White House into a campaign to save our country from one of the worst presidents in history.

We’d elect a dead salmon if that’s who the only other choice was.

(Don’t waste my time talking about Nader. If we could elect a worse president than Bush, it would be Nader. That’s no choice, either.)

So I’m not voting for Kerry so much as I’m voting against Bush. Kerry is obviously the better choice on several levels. Hell, on all levels. Granted, he’s no Bill Clinton, but maybe it’s time to stop clinging to Bill’s legacy and pick up the mess left by Bush.

Today's link goes to Trufen.net, a great clearinghouse site for all things fannish. This is a good site to keep an eye on as Noreascon approaches.

Cheers!
