What is the world coming to when I can order my groceries on-line and have them delivered to my door?

Actually, I suppose I shouldn't complain. This is a pretty nifty service, and seeings how I can only take stairs one step at a time, it's a pretty handy service. I imagine there are a lot of people who benefit from this. Still, it just seemed a bit weird to me. Even decandant.

And clever. After typing in the number on my grocery's shopping card, the webpage pulled up a list of all the groceries I had purchased in the past so I could find stuff easy. Somewhere, there's a database that works and actually prctical. Who woulda thunk it?

Overall, the prices were pretty much the same. Not shopping in person meant I missed some of the daily special prices--especially on meats. I usually save around 6-8 dollars a week on automatic in-store coupons. I only saved 79 cents this time. And there's a $9 delivery fee.

Would I use this service again? Sure. The next time I'm in a position where physically doing the groceries would not be possible. I could see doing it while out of town and arranging delivery for the day of my return. I could see doing it should (God forbid) the car not be available that weekend.

Still, I felt like Caligula. Or maybe Nero.

Nah. Caligula.

So the Christmas tree has been taken down. Always a little sad, but not as sad as keeping it up all winter. Unstringing the lights was a chore and a half. We almost said "Screw it," and chucked the tree, lights and all. But preserverance preserved--or something like that--and we got the lights set aside for next year. I will just have to start untangling them sometime in July.

Home Movies is a twisted little animated show that shows up Sunday nights on The Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. I catch it on the early Monday-morning repeat (4:30am) just before I go to work. It's hard to say exactly what the appeal is to me. The animation is far inferior to anything else I can recall. I think it's the dialogue which has moments of subtle cleverness despite it being a somewhat script-improvised show.

Here's an example:

Paula Small: What were you saying?
Brendon: Can we move the flowers?
Paula Small: Before that.
Brendon: This meatloaf is dry.
Paula Small: Before that.
Brendon: This is *meatloaf*?
Paula Small: Before that.
Brendon: This fish is dry.

See? See? Clever subtleness and subtle cleverness all in one package.

It's like a poem.

Finally, today's link goes to Wikipedia.org! In case you've not heard of this site before, it's a kind of cooperative, open, community encyclopedia. Anyone can add to or edit the contents and the way various articles are hyperlinked together means you can start with one topic such as... oh, lessee... George Washington's teeth, and end up at the history of Chinese printmaking, or maybe even golf balls on the moon.

Lots of fun, and a great (and edumacational) time-waster.

Cheers!
