What a nice weekend!

Friday night my friend Chris and I went down to Newport to catch Lewis Black's show. As expected, he was absolutely brilliant and incredibly funny. I thought I'd pass out from laughing so much. Black is easily one of my favorite comics of all time.

Saturday Pretty Maggie and I went to the Washington County Fair where I ate too much good food (clamcakes, chowder, keilbasa, irish salt potatoes, etc.). We didn't spend as long there as we have in past years. The music act wasn't something we were too excited with, she was still tired from her recent bout with the flu, and I had been up way too late the night before myself, but we had a great time. We enjoyed the various exhibits--especially the farm animals. I bought a nice art print, and even broke down and played a couple of carny games.

I got in a good amount of fishing as well. Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon found me at Corliss Landing again. Nothing bit on Sunday--just lots rain on yours truly, but was fun just the same. Pretty Maggie tagged along and read in the car as I got soaking wet. I chatted with some other fishing folk who were also set up on th pier. Saturday morning I had gotten some nibbles--no go on Sunday afternoon tho. Just more lost lures.

Sunday morning I checked out a new spot along the Seekonk river and spent a couple of very early-morning Sunday hours casting and reeling. I didn't catch anything that morning either, but there were defnitely fish there. You could see them going after surface insects. I saw a number of low-flying geese, some birds in the reeds, and a pair of regal swans touring their territory. All in all a very nice time.

And sleep! O lord I caught up on some sleep. Always a good thing.

The Edgar Kennedy book comes closer to completion. The second volume of the radio encyclopedia is underway, and the SFWA Bulletin is at the printers. I have a lead on another freelance gig (a one-time) and the money is welcome.

I'm a little concerned about The Moor. Last night we were alarmed to see him completely out of his shell. Now he's been outgrowing his shell for a while now and I've been leaving larger shells encouragingly in the area. No go, tho. Last night it must have gotten just too cramped. He was spending his time in the water dish looking forlorn (or maybe thoughtful... it's hard to tell what a crab is really thinking). I set up a couple of shells near him and put up some privacy around the cage so he wouldn't get too stressed. By morning I found him in Mercutio's old shell. I'm not so sure about this as I don't think it's much of an improvement size-wise. I'm going to take some of the bigger shells and wash them out tonight in case they have substrate in them and that's why he's not moving in.

Which brings me to today's link. Ever want to know about hermit crabs? Here's a great starting site. Who knows, you may even want to take some home! Enjoy Hermit Crabs.com.

Cheers!
