Reading: A Feast For Crows by George R.R. Martin
Music: Gaelic Storm "Tree"
TV/Movie: Venture Bros. season 1 DVD set
Link o' the Day: Gaelic Storm

Howdy again, everyall.

Another big run of deadlines have been happening, and bit by bit I've been setting them up and knocking them down. Coming out soon will be Manhattan Diary by Richard Lamparski--the companion volume to Hollywood Diary--both good books if you like gossipy stories about celebs. Also out soon will be We Bombed in New London: The Story of "Late Nite Comic" by Brian Gari. This is an interesting book for anyone who has ever been interested in the process of New York theatre.

Also soon will be the Autumn Arbor Campaign Guide, the August issue of Medicine and Health-RI, and issue 170 of the SFWA Bulletin.

Busy busy busy!

But it hasn't been all-work and no play. Pretty Maggie and I recently saw Gaelic Storm in New London. We've done a few summer-type things when weather permits. We have plans for a few days in Orlando in a month or so. And plans for New Hampshire. And Maybe St. Kitts or Nevis come winter.

Musically it's been fun. I've picked up a few 5-string banjo standards ("Cripple Creek" "Cotton-Eyed Joe" etc.) and it's getting a bit better. My tenor banjo playing is coming along well, also. I've even been picking up the guitar a bit now and then. I need to to dust off the fiddle again--maybe this coming weekend--just so I don't forget everything. And I need to find some music sessions that happen on days and nights I'm not working.

I'm attacking a little bit of writing again. I've taken out my story morgue and seeing if some of the dead is worth re-animating, plus working on a couple of new ideas as time permits.

All in all. Life is good. And interesting.

Busy tho. I hope to write here a bit more--and get a bit more deep.

Anyways, rambling-mode off. Back to work!

Today's link goes to Gaelic Storm's website. A very kick-ass band that takes traditional Irish music and applies a bit of world-beat and all-round fun. They have a new CD coming out in a week or two, and from what I've heard of it so far from concerts, it's going to be a pretty good one.

Check them out. You won't be sorry.
