Reading: The Ghost by Robert Miller
Music: Barney McKenna
TV/Movie: Young Frankenstein
Link o' the Day: Mandolin Cafe

I've missed a few days in posting, which I had hoped to avoid. For a couple of days I wasn't in a position where I wanted to be at my desk for extended periods of time, and those times I were...I was working on book projects. All is better now. I'm catching up, and feeling better.

The seasons doth slowly turn. You can feel it especially in the evenings. And the sun setting sooner. And alas. Turn. Turn. Turn. But there is still quite a bit of time to enjoy pleasant weather--especially during while the sun's up. These are the days we enjoy going to art festivals, craft fairs, group outings, and whatnot. Tonight it's a group outing with some friends up in Massachusetts. Last weekend was the Brennans Farm gig. Next weekend are Swamp Yankee Days down near Westerly. There will be apple picking. And we're also planning on going away to the Lake George area for our anniversary.

It's all good.

I'm nearly finished with the Jan Wahl book. Nearly finished with Hank Moonjean. Still a bit of work to do on the Baby Peggy project, and I have something coming up for either The Dead End Kids, Kojak, or Mel Simons interview book. The next issue of the SFWA Bulletin is nearing completion. As is another issue of Medicine & Health/RI.

Busy little bee.

I've recently discovered the fun that is Facebook. Actually, I first signed up quite a few months ago on a lark. I was bored, and kept hearing how Facebook was The Next Big Thing (Pretty Maggie calls it Myspace for adults, and I tend to agree). I didn't do much with it then, but over the past week or so, I've been joining groups and adding friends. I think it started with some old high school folk contacting me, and it blossomed from there. I've since added friends and associates from school, the Science Fiction Writers of America, fanzine fandom, and from our personal circle of friends. I'm very impressed with its networking capabilities.

If any dear readers here are on Facebook and want to add me, just type in my name (John Teehan) and look for the one in Providence, RI.

And no, I'm not replacing Journalscape with Facebook. I will likely post on Facebook, though, notices as to when this page is updated.

Today's link goes to the Mandolin Cafe. This is a great site for lovers of the 8-string mandolin and its relatives. There are many, many tabs available, too, for afficinados of Irish trad, bluegrass, and Old Time music. It's not only useful for mandolin players, but also Irish Tenor and (to an extent) fiddle players. I was recently tasked to learn a slide called "The Old Favourite". This was the first place I looked, and I'm now maybe a day away from having it memorized.

Cheers!
