You know how many--particularly comedians--say that it'll be harder to tell when a movie is set in the future because we've now elected a black president? I think I have a solution.

From now on, when we have a movie set in the future, and we want to signify that by presenting a US President isn't like any of the past presidents, they should splice in old footage of Charles Nelson Reilly--big lapelled liesure suits and glasses and all. Don't give him any dialog. Just show a clip of him holding the rim of his glasses going "Nnnnnggnnnn!"

For example:

Secret Service Agent #1: Mr. President! The alien invaders have broken into the White House!

The President (grinning awkwardly and holding rim of glasses): Nnnnnggnnnn!

Secret Service Agent #2: Sir! We have to get you to the escape pod...right away!

The President (wearing a light salmon-colored liesure suit): Nnnnnggnnnn!

The alien invader bursts into the Oval Office. It looks a lot like an aged Martin Landau.

Alien Invader: Bleah!

The President (sitting in the center square): Nnnnnggnnnn!

Wouldn't that be neat?

This is why I don't sleep well at nights. I'm always thinking up shit like this.

I'd apologize to anyone who doesn't know who Charles Nelson Reilly and Martin Landau are...but that's what the internet is for.

A very short entry today. Lots of work to do. We have the edits to the medical journal, work on a book by former Mouseketeer Lonnie Burr, prepping envelopes to send out some eBay sales, and then meeting with an author to go over a proof. That's not counting chores I've been neglecting.

So, busy day. And after writing a lot of checks for bills yesterday, the busier the better.

Today's link goes to The Official Site of Charles Nelson Reilly. He was quite a character. Aside from his many campy appearances on television during the 70s and 80s, I was a fan of his character, Jose Chung, from The X-Files and Millennium.

Cheers!
