Odd Inspirations in Odd Places

Inspiration can be found in the oddest of places and I really need to start carrying around my little, pocket-sized black notebook again so I can write this stuff down as I find it. I've been seeing fascinating stuff everywhere: editorials, advertisements on the sides of busses, children screaming in supermarkets, reflected light off a CD, store receipts, movie credits, my iPod, a Picasso print, laundry, an episode of South Park. South Park, dammit!

Usually when this happens, it means it's time to get words onto paper. Fast. But instead of ideas neatly marked in my little black notebook, I have a motley arrangement of folded index cards, the backs of envelopes, and a Dunkin' Donuts napkin.

Not the way to do things.

But at least I have them. And I know where the little black notebook is and can re-integrate that into daily life. And I can get stuff written down. And from there?

Something wicked this way comes.

Decent amount of work today. More Ray Danton images to edit and the Nebula issue of the SFWA Bulletin to get to work on. I've been sent about two-thirds of the material, and we have a cover artist picked out. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to get this off to the printer by April 6 in plenty of time for copies to be delivered to the Nebula Awards Weekend April 24-26 in Los Angeles. (photo is an old one of Isaac Asimov with a Nebula Award taken by Jay Kay Klein)

As far as personal work is concerned, I have to finish revising a couple of short stories to send out to new markets, and I have a stack of poems that need sending out as well. I didn't get as much housework done yesterday as I'd have liked, but may be able to catch up a little later today. Hopefully the day isn't going to be as grey and dreary as yesterday.

The question is...will I bake something today? Banana bread? Brownies? Muffins? Cup cakes? Maybe something involving dairy-free fudge.

I came across this link via Matt Bergin at Forces of Geek concerning an exciting new trend in the world of art: "Star Wars as Art" at SomethingAwful.com as part of their Photoshop Friday feature. Really and for true, I wish prints of these would be legally available as they're pretty dang good. See for yourself.
