Mood:
a cad, apparently

I get a lot of mail, and not all of it addressed to me. Well, the street address is correct, as is the city state and zip, but they aren't addressed to anyone named Teehan. I'm not even certain they're addressed to a single individual. Granted, there have been many tenants here before us, but prior to our arrival five or so years ago, the apartment had been empty for ten years and I am acquainted with the identities of tenants going back some twenty years further. Thus far, there has been no intersection.

Here are the latest two letters to arrive:
Dear Sir,

You, sir, are a cad.

Yours sincerely,

(signed) (signed)
Messrs. Greenley & Kobb
Baltimore

which was unexpected. One wonders the details. And then there was this one:
Dear Chum,

We note with interest the recent post in the clubhouse newsrag the announcement of your intended expedition to discover the source of the Amazon River. It may interest you to know that said source has been established for some years now as a trickle cascading from Nevado Mismi--a 18,363-foot-high mountain in southern Peru.

We hope this does not disappoint you overmuch.

Sincerely,

your Chums

Alumni House
Ms. Katerine's Academy for Orphans of Some Quality
New Haven

p.s. If this expedition is somehow tied to your recent legal woes in Nova Scotia, please forgive our meddling and do carry on with our best wishes.

It comes as no surprise to me that there is no listing for Ms. Katerine's Academy in New Haven or anywhere.

Yesterday was as productive as the day before, and today should be as productive yesterday, assuming the cats don't trash my desk again with one of their cyclone fights.

Here's a tip for authors with books that feature a lot of photos...please tell us poor book designers where you want your photos, what photos go with which chapters, and what the captions should be--if any. What may seem obvious to you is not so obvious to us and you end up turning what should be a two-week project into one nearly two-months.

Rumor has it...
George Carlin's last words were six out of the seven one can't say on television.
