The whole process of buying a house is a pain in the ass. I'm just saying. I'm sure there are easier ways, but those easier ways hinge upon being independently wealthy. For the rest of us, it's like running through level 4 on the original Mario Bros and you're in that part that just goes round and round until you manage to get that trick that gets you up on the ledge that leads you to the final boss.

And you're all out of power-ups.

It's doable, but jeez.

It's not all dark. To really push this metaphor beyond reasonable limits, we're poring through the strategy guides and cheat sheets and think we can outrun Bowser. It'll work, but we're leaning in that chair by the TV clutching the controller doing all sorts of terrible stress things to our back and knuckles. All so we can see the words "Congratulations, you have just saved the princess" flash before our eyes.

So we'll see how it goes. I'm confident we're going to save the princess, but you know she's just going to get kidnapped again just in time for the sequel.

But that's for another game. For the sick real estate acquisition game we're playing now, we're going to Pwn.

Yesterday was a pretty productive day. I got the Design Integrations book finished, though I'm still awaiting many of the graphics. The expanded version of the Universal Monsters book is finished and okayed by the author, so I'm just waiting on word to send it to the printer. Today we're tackling the rest of the Doris Day book, and getting cracking on the next issue of the medical journal.

It's all good. It's Tuesday and I'm perfectly on schedule.

Go me.

Saturday, I picked up a book, True Story Swear To God: 100 Stories by cartoonist Tom Beland. This is a very charming collection of autobiographical comics by a very skilled artist and storyteller. It inspired me to look up other works by Beland and there's quite a bit. I've made a new discovery! Beland talks about his work, his life, his love, his past, and being a Californian now living in San Juan. Join me in discovering and exploring the Tom Beland website.
