As a teacher, I can't tell you the amount of times a student will ask me something that is actually in the directions. Who wants to read, when we can ask the teacher 33 times?

So I am always careful to spell out everything on paper, to anticipate every possible confusion or question that a 12-year-old can come up with.

I am careful - even when writing to a physician.

Received a call today from "Karen" at our doctors' office. She is VERY confused by the paperwork requests I dropped off Monday. Why are there 2 medical certs to fill out? Is this for you or your husband? Your husband doesn't see your own doctor, so why does it say "father's name" on the sheet? Please call when you receive this message.

Outside of the fact I got home at 7:30pm tonight & therefore have to take time out of my lunch to call her, all her questions would be answered if she took a few moments to read through the minutely detailed letter that accompanied the paperwork.

Grrr.

Also met my long-term sub today, who was in the building. She is VERY excited to fill in for me, practically bubbling over. She has been looking for a job for 1-1/2 years now. Problem is, she wants middle school but can't seem to pass her Social Studies certification test (she passed History (her major), but SS (her AND my minor & req'd for middle school) requires Econ, Psych, Gov't, & Geography specifically).

She used to be a student teacher in the classroom next door to me 2 years ago, so we know each other. She's actually saving her days of subbing this semester to make sure she can finish out the school year (subs are only allowed to sub for 120 days, and I'll be out close to 80-some if February is when I take maternity). I'm glad to have someone very thrilled and motivated. I also know she's very strict - the kids hated her when she was student teaching. Which is a good sign. :)
