getting better

Whew, yesterday was an adjustment. My first full day with Roman. He decided the night before to wake up at 2am and cry until 3am. Then he slept until 8am, which threw the whole day off. He wouldn't nap in the morning, but I think he got overtired - he wouldn't nap in the afternoon (yelled again for 40 minutes). I finally brought him downstairs and rocked him to sleep. He slept an hour. I was so tired of his wailing, thank goodness Doug got home from work early!

Today is looking to shape up better. He slept all night, 8:30pm - 7am. He was also in a good mood, which is a plus. He's been playing by himself for around 15 minutes, and I just turned Sesame Street on. I don't know what it is about that show, but he has been watching it on and off while still playing. He did the same thing with Teletubbies yesterday. We're trying a different show each day to see what he likes.

Currently it is Teletubbies, Blues Clues, and apparently, perhaps Sesame Street.

We have a big day planned. We are meeting the other swim coach at 11am for lunch and to learn how to do lineups for the swim meets; I think he's quitting after this season. Then Grandma and Pop-Pop Van Eeuwen are going to be in town on their way back from Atlanta, so we're hoping to see them too. Bath tonight!

I recall when I was little, my mom did tennis, bowling, and all other sorts of things during the day. Now I know why - you gotta get out of the house! For the future I'm planning a trip to Meijer's (best diaper wipes we've found so far are the "Tiny Tikes" sold there) and the scrapbook store. :) Got to plan these days, you know.

Oh yeah! Almost forgot. Big accomplishments yesterday. We discovered a new sound - "na" - and we also finally learned how to drink properly from a no-drip sippy cup (the Avent brand). Thank gosh! He wasn't drinking any juice between or with meals.
