-----------------------------------

We had a big day! As he woke up from the nap, I trucked Roman over to the pediatrician. Roman now weighs 23.4 pounds, up from 20.7 two weeks ago. And that's with us watching what he eats! Dr. encouraged us to feed him (but not overfeed or force), as he will lose the pudge when he starts walking. Checked his ears out, he still has fluid in the left. Will keep rechecking. Temp. was good at 98.

Roman got a Hib vaccine, which covers a bacteria that causes meningitis, certain pneumonias, and certain other diseases. He got it in his left thigh. He was SO GOOD. He screwed his face up like he was going to cry - but then the nurse said something to him, and he grinned at her instead. What a trooper. He then got a Tasmanian Devil Band-Aid. We go back in four weeks for our polio vaccine and another one. Dr. grinned and said, "You and I are going to be seeing a lot of each other over the next few months!" We still have blood tests to do (HIV, hepatitis, lead, thyroid, etc.) and other vaccines.

The nurses loved him. They passed him around to hold him and gave him a pinwheel, which he loved. Then we went to a store in Plymouth where the 2 ladies working fawned over him. After that, I met a few teachers after school for a beverage and they ooohed and aaahed. Finally we went to pick up a roll of film that we had developed, and the owner's wife (a parent of a former student) couldn't get enough of him, held him, and another customer (Tom) wanted to talk to him and grin with him. Talk about a celebrity!

This weekend is a big weekend, too. We go to Niles on Saturday for a shower/cookout on my Dad's side and spend the night at my parents. Then Sunday we hope to see Oma (my own grandmother) on our way through Kzoo. Whew! All these relatives who haven't met Roman yet!
