-----------------------------------
We put Roman down tonight as usual. Out of the blue, about 10 minutes later, he started screaming and crying. This went on for close to 20 minutes, then stopped. At about 9:00pm, he began screaming again for no reason whatsoever. We were stumped... and then I heard it. A meow. A very recognizable, high-pitched meow. Our cat Merry was IN the nursery.

We sprinted upstairs and could hear Merry thumping at the door, trying to get out. Roman was screaming at the top of his lungs. Doug threw open the door and Roman was entirely distressed, red face, tears streaming. The poor cat came bolting out of the room as fast as he could. For being pals at feeding time, they certainly don't like to be in the same room at night! I can't decide who it was worse for; Roman, for being woken up twice, or Merry for being in a room with a screaming child with no escape!
