First, a moment of celebration. We have been home 3 months today with Roman!

Roman received a certificate at swimming today, signed by our teacher Miss Kelly, saying he had successfully completed his first swim class. How cool is that? The sometimes lonely fact that we live away from other relatives hits me in strange ways. Doug tried but couldn't make it to the last swim class to watch, so Roman and I were the only ones there not having our pictures taken zealously by a bystander. I felt a stab of... I'm not sure. Loneliness? Sadness? I have to remember that here on the east side, and especially the cities we live in and frequent, parents are over-supportive of their kids. So even the end of an 8-day swim class is cause for oohing and aahing.

After swim class, we went to our new friend Kelly & Jack's house. Kelly is the mom, Jack the 10-month-old. We had lunch and the boys played a little. Jack went down for a nap pretty early, which Roman _needed_ to but he was so excited with his surroundings, he wouldn't nap. And I tried. So we only got a little way into a movie when Roman was getting sloppy all over the living room (that's what we call it when he's so tired, he can't even stand on his legs). He kept rolling around on the floor with a stuffed animal and "assuming the position" of sleep. So I packed up and came home. We'll try again another time.
