Now that commandos have busted into the school and we're at 300-some bodies and counting, I will get back to the subject of my son. Events sometime make me fear for his future, and I understand those people who don't want to have kids because of this fear. But one can hope that Roman will be the next Secretary of State (never would I wish president on him) and can attempt some diplomacy. Last thought on Putin - does anyone out there worry that he will use this international terror threat (as he called it) to increase his hold over the country? He's an old-school commy, make no mistake. Former head of the KGB. Hmm...

Anyway... we saw the pouty lower lip for the first time this weekend. We were stopping him from doing something at my parents', and he looked from face to face for some sympathy. His eyes locked on his grandma and out slid the lower lip and sad hang-dog look. I fell over laughing, as did my mom! He has never pulled that before, we found it amusing.

Roman romped with his extended family today; we went to the beach in the morning to watch the "boats go out" during the Tri-State Regatta. My brother, wife, and their daughter came too, so Roman played with his cousin! Then later there was a picnic at my parents' and my relatives from Kzoo came down; 4 more cousins age 13 and under, two who were 7 and 4. So they enjoyed playing with him, and he barely took a 45 minute nap. But it was an exciting day. He really liked watching the boats go by. We saw a big concrete/sand freighter go out the river too, and it blew its horn loudly as it passed us. Roman JUMPED! And then studied it. Funny guy.
