Working on: Killing time until Roman's dinner.
---------------------------------

Yesterday was a 4-outfit day for Roman. We went to church in the morning: outfit #1. Got chocolate ice cream on it (from the ice cream social afterward), so changed when we got home. Outfit #2. He filled his diaper and his shorts got wet after nap: Outfit #3. He went to stomp in the little puddle in the street with Daddy, and fell down. Outfit #4. THEN, bath and bed. Whew!

On Friday I received a letter in the mail congratulating me for receiving tenure in my school district, effective Sept. 1. So starting Thursday, they'll have to work extra hard to get rid of me! Hah! Another benefit - only every-other-year evaluations. I spent the last 4-1/2 years being evaluated a couple times a semester. I have nothing against teacher evaluations, that's fine - but making sure the lesson is a good one, remembering all the stuff I'm supposed to do - it gets nerve-wracking.

I don't know if I ever journaled this, but Roman calls Tootsie Rolls "Pete Rose." I think that's adorable. His energy level is starting to crank up a notch - preparing for the active three's a little early. Also went with no nap yesterday, but I think that was due to excitement that Daddy came home from his boys' motorcycling weekend.

School started today. Half-day, so only 20 minutes per class. As in all "rotation" classes (10 week classes) the kids were a bit obnoxious. Like they're "free time" classes or something. So there were a couple real chatty boys. My 2 8th grade classes look really good. Have an aide in my 7th grade class as I have 2 autistic and one severely special ed. child. That's good and bad, I suppose.

The last great news - in cruising the clearance center of a local furniture store, I tripped across a 3-piece living room set for a GREAT price. Like, "buy it right now without consulting with Doug" price. But I waited, and showed it to him Sunday afternoon. We have been wanting to buy some stuff of our own - even in 5 years of marriage, only one piece of furniture in the living room was actually done FOR us. Everything else was free, hand-me-down, or Doug had before our marriage. Our basement - same thing. Again, nothing wrong with that, but we wanted a STYLE and something we chose on our own to coordinate.

With the advent of my parents' piano coming our way in 2 weeks or so, we decided to make the move, and bought said 3-piece living room set (couch, loveseat, and chair). It's hard to describe - I'll call it "Arts & Crafts" style meets "rich bachelor". Will take pictures if/when it delivers on Wednesday. Hooray! One of the pieces (probably new couch) will go down to the basement, along with "big yellow chair" if it fits. I'm really excited to update the house, and it's pushed me to clean out corners again.
