When I picked up Roman today I glanced over his "report sheet" as I always do - mostly to check on if he had a nap. I saw that in the section for "what did I do today" it said - "had fun in Miss Katie's room." Whoa.

Miss Katie is the next room up - the transition room - for 2-1/2 to 3 years old. You cannot leave Miss Katie until you are potty trained. Roman has been asking to be with Miss Katie for a week or so now because he's tired of being with the "babies," but when I mentioned it to his own head teacher she reminded me they move up at 2-1/2.

So when I saw that he had been to Miss Katie's, I asked one of the usual workers what was up. Well apparently, about a week and a half ago the county director for his daycare was visiting. She was observing the kids in the Toddler room, pointed to Roman and Micaylla and said, "why are they here? They should be in the Transition Room." So someone in charge decided to try them with Miss Katie today. Micaylla cried and came back, but Roman apparently had a blast. He reported he played with his old buddies - Alison, Brianna, and Billy - and played cars. He also took a 2 hour nap.

So I'm looking forward to talking with his head teacher on Monday to see what's up. The only caution I was given was that he may not be able to move up because of "numbers" of staff vs. kids. But things are definitely intriguing...
