Today I had to run up to Lansing to take our 3rd post-placement homestudy to get apostilled. Only one more to go, this time next year! Anyway, we were under the impression that Frank needed it at the end of the month February, to get it translated and to Russia at the end of the month March.

Got a call as I was literally putting my coat on to leave - it was a social worker from Frank. Wondering if our post-placement was done, and if so, could they have an advanced copy faxed to begin the translating? I said sure, and asked why the rush. Apparently a representative of Ekaterinburg's Ministry of Education called Frank wanting our report. Eek!

Now, it's no big deal - we know we're within the deadline - but I truly thought that the reports were paperwork that just went "into the file" in Russia. Not so much - not only do they read it, they are anticipating it. And it just made me ponder, life seems so "everyday"... and then a little phone call makes me remember the amazing miracle of Roman and how he arrived in our lives. And how Russia is still darn good at the "big brother" thing.

And THEN I'm reminded that as Roman progresses toward the age of 18, we have to take his renunciation of Russian citizenship (hopefully!) pretty seriously.
