Books and other stuff I feel like discussing

By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

October will be fun this year

OK, now I can stand it.

Rockies will join the "boys of October" where they deserve to be, for probably the first time in their history.

The owners are widely criticized in the local press for being stingy, but their commitment about 5 years ago to collect a group of "homegrown" players drafted in the early summer and then groomed in the farm system has, oh so gradually, paid off.

I've been in a very small minority of people who have thought they were on the right track, and it feels very good to be right!

One of my favorite local columnists in this morning's Rocky Mountain News has titled his entry "It feels so right to be wrong."
