By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

Coors Field Nugget Seven - Something new, but not so different

"And she ain't wearin' no clothes!"

Last Tuesday, there was an intruder on the field during the late innings of the game against the Phillies. A young woman, probably urged on by friends, stripped to the waist and jumped over the low wall on the third base side of the infield. The incident wasn't shown on the broadcast feed for TV, nor on the large video screen in center field, and commentators only mentioned that there would be a short pause while "an intruder" was apprehended and hustled away to the lockup below the concourse.

Gossip about her has spread that she reacted in horror when told that the penalty was a $1,000 fine and three days in jail. "But they told me it was only $100!" is her reported reaction.

What's fun about this is that wierd incidents seem to plague Coors Field whenever the Phillies play here. Last July during a sudden, strong wind and rain storm, the wind picked up the tarp and pulled a member of the grounds crew several dozen feet along the infield after the other workers lost their grip. This has shown up on several baseball blooper reels I've seen lately. During the playoff series at Coors Field last October, the stadium lights went out for 14 minutes, plunging the stadium into a strange kind of twilight as the emergency generators kicked in.

This past Monday, the Phillies scored one run on an inside the park home run, and then on Tuesday Ms "I'm ready for my 15 minutes of fame" made her bid for notoriety.

What's next, I wonder?
