Books and other stuff I feel like discussing

By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

Home again, home again, jiggedty jig

Well, probably not too much jigging - at least for awhile.

The surgery went well, and somewhat to my own surprise I was walking with a cane only, no walker, seven days after the operation. The various details of hospital and rehab stay are probably not very interesting to casual readers, so I'll skip them.

For most of my life, I have been the farthest thing from a jock you could possible imagine. But for the last 2-3 years, I have regularly attended an excercise class held in a warm water therapy pool. One of the claimed benefits of this class is an increase in balance and with my ease of walking so quickly after the surgery, I am inclined to give that class all the credit.

Even though an inpatient in rehab, I was free to come and go as I liked, and the Denver weather cooperated. For a trip to the doctor and brief outings to get a latte, I was able to get in and out of the car on dry pavement. So cabin fever was held to a minimum!

Finally after 13 days, home to Mr Woodstock and the cats. No more bed with an adjustable head rest, instead the familiar comfort of a mattress and box springs with a warm little cat cuddling close to my shoulder. And in the morning, a pot of properly brewed tea!

Next few weeks will include outpatient physical therapy, and a gradual return to "normal" activities. It's good to be home!
