Books and other stuff I feel like discussing

By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

Life's Imponderables

A recent shopping trip got me to wondering about several issues which probably will remain unanswered.

Why do people drive at 30 miles per hour (or more) through parking lots?

Why are some vegetables (celery hearts) marketed in packages which are easy to reuse after you have sliced the first stalk; while others (heads of cauliflower) are ingeniously wrapped in cellophane which is twisted and taped in such a way to render the wrapping unusable once you finally succeed in getting it open?

Why, to open a CD, must you first struggle to find a weak spot in the shrink wrap which then sticks to your fingers with static electricity; and then peel off a stubborn strip of sticky tape?

Why are some over the counter medications only available in individually wrapped foil bubbles, and never in a pill bottle? Do the makers of those meds have some unfinished issues with persons who have arthritic fingers?

I know there are no answers, but I feel better after sharing the questions!
