Books and other stuff I feel like discussing

By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

Eager anticipation, or sheer terror?

I have no idea! You pick one.

There is a non profit here in the Denver area, The Lighthouse Writers Workshop. They have a wide variety of writing classes. I took a one day class there a few years ago, on writing book reviews. I got some good tips, and was also motivated to search out a market.

Mr W's illness and the demands on my time put the brakes on that endeavor, and while I still think about it, realistically I would need to be able to devote my attention to reading with much more success than I can manage at present.

But two classes caught my eye: Writing 101 - You've got to Start Somewhere; and Writing a Personal Narrative. One of my sisters took a personal narrative class a few years ago, and she is an enthusiastic booster of my plans.

I've enrolled in both, and the first session is next Thursday. I alternate between curiosity about what it will be like and unmitigated fear.

NOW what have I got myself into?
