Books and other stuff I feel like discussing

By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

Real life on the horizon

Training schedules for Coors Field staff members arrived in the mail today. Returning staff sign up for three hours of training (which almost always stretches to four). I don't think there's too much new this year, no revision to the stadium facilities, as far as I know.

Last year one of the restaurants had been upscaled in dramatic fashion, and the year before that three large super luxury suites, along with a conference room had been carved out of some existing suites.

I'll go for three hours on March 26. For the first time in several years, we play the season opener at home on April 1.

I also head off on Thursday of this week to make like a tax accountant again for about ten weeks. That funds the life style to which I have become accustomed. The owner of the office does her best to take the sting out of the slogging through a never ending series of files and documents, but I still have regular reminders of why I retired from full time work.

Coors Field is real life from my vantage point.

The tax job is just details.
