First Non-Academic Revelations

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Spent the rest of the day yesterday finalizing my Astronomy exam, two pages, and fifty questions. Since it was below the allotted number of pages the vice chairman submitted to the Registrar’s Office (who are paying for the reproduction of all final exams), Vice told me I could go ahead and have it photo stenciled instead of having to print it out on stencils using our sole dot matrix printer. Unfortunately I don’t see the operation myself, as it’s our secretary reliever (the first one is on maternity leave – her fifth) who ran it.

The International Studies pair show up with their grading sheets. They expect to be the one to bring it to the I.S. department, but I said I’ll do it. We’re not giving them a grade as high as in their proposal defense (only 85%) and I don’t want them to find out until their thesis coordinator gives them the course card. The guy even says the I.S. dept. secretary is embarrassed to make a faculty member deliver the papers. So I just told him I’d let our secretary deliver it, which isn’t true.

Yesterday I also signed the special exam forms of my astronomy students who want to prioritize their Economics exam, which is at the same time. I just schedule their make-up exam immediately afterwards.

In the laboratory classes, I received a lot of written reports already, and one CD of the oral report. It’s by the same guys who asked to be exempted before. Now I’m thinking that they might have found the department already closed when they tried to submit it last week.

Today I arrived at the department at 3pm, having gone out with my roommate shopping for the apartment and watching a movie. Roomie’s schedule for today had been changed from 11am to 6pm when he called them immediately after leaving the house.

Department workshop has people deciding for either Saisaki or Tagaytay, both with eight votes each. I don’t know if this will be on evening of the 15th, immediately after course card distribution, or on the 16th, which has already been declared a non-working holiday.
