Judging by Consistency of Behavior

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

In my 1120am class Thursday, the same two slackers who were late in the TrigApp class were late again, despite the fact that one of them had passed by the faculty room twenty minutes before the start of classes asking when and where we were going to meet. Their excuse: they were just down at the canteen having lunch.

That’s why I’d rather not impose the maximum absences rule. Otherwise half the class would probably fail before midterms.

My cousin was in my 1pm class, and even before the class started, another student, Joey, who took Math last term, asked me to tell the “new student” to introduce himself because he sat by himself. Luckily it was the class where three of the (so far) four new students were, so it was a good chance for the rest of the class to get to know the transferees.

After the class my cousin asked if he could borrow the textbook for studying, saying he’ll just bring it to school the next day. No problem with me.

There will also be a talent show in campus next Friday. This was supposed to have been planned for the Christmas party last year, but there was already too much for the students, the staff and the faculty to do with the local outreach program, the sportsfest (fourth for the term, as far as I know) and the course card distribution all happening in the same week.

So it was moved to this month. Auditions among the students were held in late November, so half of the acts had already been booked. Some of the better performances during the administration Christmas presentation would be asked to reprise their song and/or dance numbers, and a faculty coordinator has already been going around asking for more volunteers among the teachers (I guess the faculty’s part in the Christmas show wasn’t considered memorable). Even the parents have promised three acts.

There is a comedy skit being passed around that involves spoofing the presidentiables, and I’m being cast as either Erap or Roco. We’ll see. I could always just sing.

Yesterday I also had an early lunch with my cousin who I found alone in the cafeteria. He still didn’t know his fellow engineering majors, he said, as his classmates in Calculus and English were mostly Business Administration majors. He found the meal to be expensive, and that’s when I told him that faculty have a 20% discount during lunch. If my aunt doesn’t give cook for him after this, he could always accompany me to eat to avail of my discount.

My cousin also told me that Maila, during their first meeting in calculus had already assigned them all a science project. I guess she’s taking that math and science club (and the planned discovery demonstrations the group is supposed to organize sometime within the term) very seriously.

Can I do that in my classes? Not without overlapping on her objectives. I guess I’ll just have to spruce up the theme park and constellation angle, which is what I’m used to.

She’s even right now downloading science trivia from the net! I’m impressed.
