Looking Up At the Teacher Heirarchy

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I said to myself that I would mention it in the student edition, but I forgot.

Today I will be accompanying some Swiss Computer Science professors (in the country for a week of short graduate seminars) around some of the nearby tourist spots, including some of the more picturesque campuses where they may want to teach for a few years.

At the same time, of course, us teachers accompanying them will be trying to position ourselves to be as indispensable as possible to their current research projects for them to want to invite us back to Switzerland with them.

Wow, I don't think I would have been as candid about my intentions if I was posting in the student version. Shows how teaching really is about selective information dissemination more than mere passing on of all knowledge.

Anyway, I was talking about my Computer Circuit Fundamentals class.

I talked about parallel ports, and the significance of each pin and the different data transfer methods that need confirmations and request sends.

In the afternoon of that same day was supposed to be the meeting of the second section of the Intermediate Robotics Lab class, but since most of them already attended the meeting for the first class earlier in the week, I left it up to the students to inform their classmates about the change.

The second of several book recommendations for the library also arrived, from the same publisher that we patronized in the book fairs.

The weird part about this procedure is that retroactively, now that the Executive Vice President's office has approved the purchase of the books, I now have to fill a form to say why I recommended them in the first place.

It was a bit difficult to find ways of saying they're good books that will help both teachers and students immensely.

Session 1313 mustn't learn teacher secrets. Class dismissed.
