Teachers Reuse Strategies Until They Fail to Work or Something Is More Efficient

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

In the meetings of my Intermediate Robotics lecture and lab classes for the second week of the first term, we continued with their first project coming up with a robot that will be able to climb up and down the stairs made specifically for that purpose with intentionally painted black strips, with the additional purpose of carrying an egg on its back without breaking.

Yes, it may come as a surprise to some people out there, but teachers do recycle tasks that previous generations of students failed at.

It's like a parent living vicariously through the achievements (or threats and demands for them) of their children, from their own frustrated dreams.

There are only three groups working on these write now, but I have more hope in their success than in having it just in a contest last time.

Of course this is after I wrote on the board about class policies such as the important things in group work that can be applied when already at a job.

The same is true with the students bad habits, that their teachers talk about how to make the class more efficient (read: how to prevent stupid distractions initiated by the student) and when not to expect a perfect grade.

I also warned against projects magically appearing on the last day that wasn't even seen in the preliminary stages all throughout the duration of the project.

What's funny is that in the course of their construction, I already heard some of the students uttering some of the principles I wrote on the board, such as compromise. Another thing is that for some reason (again maybe because he believed it will ultimately not be in a test that will determine his final grade) a certain student did not copy all I wrote on the board.

If any of them forget anything that I wrote there during that preliminary discussion of how I expected them to behave during the term, then I will just have to remind them – very, very embarrassingly.

Session 1319 seems to be learning a little. Class dismissed.
