Scraping the Bottom of the Trash Can

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Sometimes you have to sift through the chaff to find the grains.

I watched the advanced screening of Disney's latest computer animated feature last night.

It was a marvel. In terms of cinematography it continues the tradition of visual genius set by "Cars", "The Incredibles" and the others.

It also captures the aura of the city of Paris perfectly through views and sounds.

The dialogue is witty, if it goes by a bit too fast to capture everything being said.

I'm suspecting that movie outfits are starting to do this intentionally to raise their DVD sales for the subtitles provided.

No doubt about it though: I will be getting the DVD, to complete my Pixar collection.

No complaint about the voices, both the recognized ones and those new to the field.

The plot has a slight unpredictability from being formulaic, but only slight.

Otherwise the different subplots were dealt with satisfactorily and not all scrunched up in the climactic scene.

I raised an eyebrow in the "rodent in the sewer" scene, yet again mirroring the creative computer-generated feature competition with Dreamworks.

I'm just worried that the subject matters the production outfit may be treading in the name of being ground-breaking and trail-blazing may be alienating their audiences, especially the kids.

This seems to be reflected also in the box office returns, having the lowest of all Pixar releases since "A Bug's Life" in 1998.

Then again, it has just been out for three weeks in the US. A year from now the full income from this movie can be determined.

All I can say is to finish is: I can't wait for their next film.

Session 1719 has nothing to do with academics at all today. Class dismissed.
