A Vicious Cycle for Judging

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

It could be a good thing or a bad thing that the winner of the outstanding teacher award from the year before has to head the committee for the next year, which decides on one fourth of the rating for the nominees. At least that's the way I view it.

Being part of the committee means that I will look in the new nominees for the same qualities that I think were what voted me into position.

At the same time that means that if there's any other mode of excellence out there that I'm not familiar with, it will not be credited.

What I really don't like about it this year thought is that the guidance counselor, who started out preparing for this last term, is pressuring me to finish this by the end of the week so that the award can be given at the culmination of the Foundation celebration.

And there is no documentation whatsoever as to how the previous committee went about it, except for the machanics which does not even set the criteria for judging the nominees.

In fact, there were comments from the students who answered the survey that the students themselves should be interviewed and that the survey form passed around wasn't enough to rate the teachers.

There was also one teacher (out of the five that returned their evaluations) who abstained saying that the award did not reflect the qualities of the Founder being bannered by the school, which are communion in mission, zeal of service and spirit of faith.

So the committee has suspended our discussions until more "evidence" is unearthed.

@@ In other news, thankfully there will be no more "wacky" games for the faculty and staff on the last day of the Foundation Week celebration, as has been the tradition the past four years.

It will be an ecological trip this time: river trek and tree planting.

Session 1731 would rather bond with co-workers on something more substantial than a three-legged race . Class dismissed.
