Badly Laid Plans of Mice and Men

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Today, just like four years ago (although the last one was during Halloween Week), the college students will be having a water fight at the trees between the main building and the Integrated School building.

They advertised everywhere, including the prizes and the registration fee and the number of members per group, along with some of the rules.

The problem was, they didn't write the venue, which may have been out of the campus for all that everyone reading could assume.

@@ Because of the all the activities that were going on yesterday (the dancing robots and the innovation "create something out of nothing" contest, using recyclable materials) I wasn't able attend our monthly Socio-Pastoral Team meeting.

And this was from 11am to 2pm yesterday, which even for them is a long time to have been in a meeting, despite the need to talk about the criticisms from the exposure trip of the Religion Four students.

I feel really bad that I didn't get to attend the meeting, especially since one of the teachers who brought her class to the innovation contest, and is also part of the pastoral team, left the innovation contest without telling me to return to the meeting.

What's worse it that they had a follow up session at the same time as dinner last night, which they only told me at 815pm, a quarter of an hour after I had already left the school.

I guess I'll have to wait for the next personal session on Saturday next week then (held every first Saturday of the month).

@@ Publicity - getting word out to people - is still the key factor in determining the number of attendees to an event, and something that the student leaders (as well as their faculty advisers) should always keep in mind when planning an activity.

It doesn't always have to be posters, but could just be by text brigade, e-mail, or even inter=office memos to people who can get the word out faster (such as teachers of related subjects).

Session 1737 thinks it's enough to put out posters for an activity the day before it happens. Class dismissed.
