Absolutely No Sense Of Time Management

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Ephraim never really stops trying. During our recent Introduction to Robotics finals, where they were supposed to list down the programs for three different robots, his ears were perked up everytime someone would ask me a question - in case he could hear the answers.

There were even times he tried to talk to some of his group mates about some items he couldn't answer - from halfway across the room.

Thankfully his group mates understood my glares and shut up immediately.

Anyway, when he heard some of the students asking about the wall follower robot question, he'd pipe up "We were the ones who made that!"

As if that automatically meant he'd answered it correctly or that just remembering they made that meant he'd get some points already.

I just kept ignoring him. If he'd only put in effort in the subjects from the start he wouldn't have to look for desperate opportunities for small pathetic glories like that.

I was also supposed to run their robots now - the two who just submitted this morning and the others who submitted last Tuesday.

But for some reason, even though he's not in the same level of classes as these students (he's about two years behind), Ephraim is hanging around the lab, using the computer for games when he sees an opportunity. I guess that means that unlike these students who spend 80% of their time in the lab working on their projects, he's just hanging out wondering what it feels to be a fourth year students nearly graduating.

@@ Another engineering student news (yes, I still wish this student would switch programs) is that two fourth year students who are still taking up third year subjects have approached me to have withdrawal papers signed, which means they won't finish out the term anymore, and may not study next term.

Maybe this means they are going to try out to finish the course in a different school which may have less stringent requirements for passing.

@@ Today one of our recent graduates showed up and treated some of us here in the school to lunch, because she just turned regular in her first job, which is with IBM Philippines.

For me that's definitely something to be proud of, on the part of the teacher and of the student, not that I'll make a habit of these visits.

Session 1781 thinks school is just one big playground. Class dismissed.
