Personal: No Theme, Just Wandering

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Just an addendum first to what I talked about in the student accessible version today, which may have looked like rambling but was actually a very ineffectual way to get my point across without having to mention that I've sworn off watching in movie houses.

These can just be added to my Top N Reasons to Give Up On Cinemas".

What do I mean about people going to watch a movie for different reasons?

That someone might be going just because they don't want to disappoint the other person, who took the risk of giving an invitation in the first place.

And that the invitation might actually be a coverup for a cry for help.

And that deep down inside one person might resent being put in that position by the other, and that it might come out completely unexpectedly and inapproriately due to some unrelated trigger some time down the line in their hanging out together.

Again, it's all about socialization, and there have to better, more interactive and more productive ways to bond besides "we all sit in a large dark room together looking at the same images moving on a wall and may take away different things from the event".

There's playing games everyone agrees they will all enjoy, or are willing to try out once and will respect others' opinion afterwards if they don't want to play anymore, as long as it is properly explained, without having to come up with excuses like "I'm not in the mood to kill others today" or maybe even not explaining at all, and just assume everyone will take it as one of the quirks they know and love you for.

There's modern communications, for another. We don't have to wait until we're all in one room together before we state our reactions to things that we have watched independently but know that the others have.

Chat, for one, has been many times the victim of my gut reaction to something I watched in "Veronica Mars" or "Grey's Anatomy".

Not that I expect a deep, long exchange about it, it's just that if I wait until we do meet face to face, I might have forgotten, and that's one opportunity for strengthening of friendship lost forever.

Wow, this is just as Odysseus in jumping directionlessly from passing observation to off the top of my head speculation as the other post.

There is no final point I'm trying even pathetically to drive home to, really.

Session 2019 is suffering from waiting for the real fun weekend to start syndrome. Class dismissed.
