Academic/Personal: Demanding Little Children

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Latest update on the dean matter: several of the college faculty members met yesterday to formulate the "unified stand" about it.

I wasn't there because this class that always gets railroaded by a meeting at that time (supposedly university break but isn't otherwise I would have no classes; if I had known at the start of the term I would have changed schedules, which would have been okay with the students; but then again, because I need this excuse not to attend this meeting, all is well with this matter).

As expected from what I heard yesterday, with no one to lead them in the discussion, it was more roundabout than even with someone to moderate.

But in the end they did come up with something, which is to submit to the brother president their stand on getting an outside dean.

They prefer the brother president to work directly with the directors for the first term, at which point the idealistic school director will return and some of the instigators of this plan have said he has agreed to take on the role at that time.

This is despite the fact that the most recent meeting with the brother was primarily to announce that since no one wants to step up to the position (and anyone who wants to will be shot down by the rest of the faculty as someone they don't like) that most likely it will be someone from outside who will take the job.

What's more annoying about all this is that their position paper will not be signed by those who were in on the meeting, but will be just collectively entitled "From the College Faculty".

Good enough that there is a separate e-mail address that the brother president gave us to be able to send him our own confidential views on the matter without having to be seen going to his office.

Oh, when will this debacle end and these guys realize that they don't have as much power as they believe on administrative matters just because they had the dean's ear for a time?

Session 2079 wants the power but not the title or the responsibility. Class dismissed.
