A/P/T: Teachers Like Babies That Have to Be Enticed to Be Fed

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Thanks for the comment, Netta. Mixing metaphors, I keep my head above water here by just being obedient to all the things the administration wants, even though I have cause to complain sometimes as well - but not as often as the others.

So to continue my tale from yesterday, the director of the school of engineering, who headed the panel of research from the previous workshop August last year, was saying that deloading (lessening the required number of units/hours a week of teaching per term) for a faculty should be given for writing a summary for a research proposal.

Further free time will be given for writing the "long" proposal itself, then more for performing the research and making the final paper.

Of course, by a vote, everyone agreed on this, because they will all be on the winning side if (ever) this is implemented.

What they don't see about it is the administration's side, first of all on the extreme possibility that all (even just half) of the faculty not being given enough teaching units just to write a proposal.

That would mean requiring to hire more part-time faculty, which is formidable as it is.

Second, there's the rub of needing to collect back the money from the faculty if ever their proposal for the proposal is rejected.

Besides, it's like promising students the highest possible grade at the start of the term, and having to tell them at the end of the term that their performance does not merit that grade, so they either fail or get a lower than expected grade.

In other words, both sides have hopes that will most likely be disappointed, and only has a one out of four chance of returning satisfaction.

I really don't see why these teachers don't want to come up with proposals on their own free time. If it's really worth doing, they won't begrudge that effort made writing it.

Session 2095 wants payment for every little step of work made in the office. Class dismissed.
