A/P: Ways of Stopping People Who Want to Break the Rules

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Okay, maybe I'll write here about the specific complaints I have about the
Leadership training – ha! you thought I was going to say institutional workshop, didn't you?

I mean, besides the ones I had last Friday, which, as it turns out, wasn't as bad as I thought.

First, there was still too much emphasis on the national situation, such that the team-building aspect was brought down to a two-hour session. I'm also not sure if the negative student culture was brought up again, and how to address it.

There were still too many students getting up and walking out of the session hall during the brother president's discourse! It would have been great if they had remembered to have a five minute break before the brother started, just to make sure everyone would visit the restroom or get a drink beforehand and pay attention to what the president had to say, which, after all, was based on what the previous student leaders had said. Thanks also to the chair of the engineering student assembly who said that advisers are there to be looked up to and not to rely too much on the students own initiative, which is often lacking.

There was one big issue about last year's gathering of student organizations chair wanting to return for another year, despite the fact that he is not a president anymore, and he cannot hold any position because he will be going for his practicum this year and thus will be off campus for one term and cannot serve fully.

It's a good thing that this reached the ears of the facilitators before the camp, so that they were able to move on it. Besides, the chair was trying to gather support from the organization presidents first before putting forth any formal request.

It goes against what has been done for the past three years though, so it would not have passed muster.

But just in case, instead of having the election of the chair in a second, on-campus session where the school year's general plan of action will be discussed, the election for the new chair was held right then and there, where the head facilitator plowed through the students' hesitation by recalling a lot of the motivational catch phrases they talked about in the previous days, even in the light of the two nominees for chair both saying they would rather not be elected.

Which is strange, because traditionally, that's a possibility they know comes with being an organization president, so they can't decline, even to say they have more work than the other organizations because of external tie-ups and mother units.

Session 2125 is starting to abuse the relative lack of written processes for their own advantage, and not wanting to step down like another certain minority president. Class dismissed.
