P: Taking The Bad with the Good

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Still talking about the weekend, I was talking about the hardships I had to endure just to be able to have a few hours of enjoyment with some friends I haven’t seen in a while.

Besides the initial downpour, that I didn’t let faze me, and the threat of physical pain, there was something more. Halfway through the night, on a trip to the restroom, the fabric of my underwear got stuck to the zipper of my jeans.

Not exactly a “There’s Something About Mary” moment, but I couldn’t get my zipper back up (it would only budge when being pulled down) so I just let it stay at the halfway point and make sure that my shirt was covering it.

Then there was the torrent and strong winds walking from EDSA to One Beverly Place at almost 4am that completely soaked my already disastrous pants.

Add to that that my phone had started pinging low battery since 7pm, and that Justin left his phone in his car that day. Fortunately the guards at the condo’s lobby still agreed to call them up to ask if I could be allowed in, and of course they did.

What was again strange the next day was that when we had breakfast at around 10am, it was clear enough to walk to the nearby shopping center and back, but as soon as we got back, then the rains began in earnest again, sometimes completely obscuring even the view of the nearby suburb from the window.

Thankfully they were going out to buy groceries (after an hour or so sitting in front of their respective portable computers at the dining table) and they just dropped me off at one of the MRT stations where I could wait for a ride without getting further drenched. At least my socks (by the time we left) had dried completely, and my pants had lost most of its moisture from being left hanging for around seven hours that I could roll it up at put it in my bag without getting the rest of my stuff wet. Thanks also to Justin for lending me shorts and a shirt. It’s really like my home away from home.

As for the final fate of my underwear, it couldn’t be saved. A small hole around where it got stuck in the zipper had to be cut just to make sure that it could be removed from the teeth of the zipper. So the pants were saved and the zipper doesn’t need to be replaced - a small price to pay really.

Lesson learned: be more careful unzipping the pants when going to the restroom.

Session 2285 feels like having passed the trials of the gods. Class dismissed.
