Nothing About Classes Today

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Part of the job of being Coordinator of Student Affairs is being in the Institutional Christmas Celebration committee, just like with the Foundation Week Celebration committee last July.

Since the first meeting happened while I was still out of country (October! now that's preparing early) I was assigned to the faculty/staff party subcomittee by the people who were there.

At least I'm now in charge of something in that subcommittee that I could really put my heart into, which is the parlor games.

What is somewhat irksome (is that redundant? some some?) is that there are people who are using the current global financial situation (I believe it's an exaggeration to call it a crisis) so as to make the celebration less festive by saying that they will forego the solicitations and the raffle this year.

Although I do like the idea of the exchange gift being about white elephants instead.

It's a good thing that the committee relented and that there will be money to be spent not just on the food but also on the prizes for the games.

@@ I'm glad to see from discussion with a former student (and now a faculty, not the first board passer) that my sentiments about the recent school week celebration are not alone.

She said that she asked the director if there will be an evaluation of what happened, and that she wanted to be part of it.

It also seems that part of the reason for all the delay with the papers that needed to be processed for the event was because there was one person who wanted her fingers in every pie, so all the paperwork had to pass through her and not delegated.

Apparently, there was also a talk during one of the days that didn't have any attendees, so some teachers and their classes were brought there instead at the last minute, even if their course topic was only marginally relevant, just to fill the room.

Session 2441 still isn't sure about not putting that last part in the student accessible version. Class dismissed.
