Breakdown of and During The Final Days

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Just some adult observations about the technical or logistic side of yesterday’s Christmas party:

Maybe I was wrong in assigning one of the junior faculty members in ensuring that the college faculty had a performance (and a good one at that, not tacky like in the past years) for the party.

It could be that the other teachers found it easier to say no to her and beg off. Or they just made it a point to decline since there were some of them who were planning to boycott the affair on the basis that it’s to be held in a testament of contradiction to the brother president’s claim that there’s not enough money to provide the five-year permanent faculty members’ service leave for next term.

But at least we didn’t embarrass ourselves anymore with paper beards and forced lyric changes to songs to reflect the theme.

Besides, Leland, who was the emcee and I (standing as the singer leading up to the part that the contestants of our lyric contest were supposed to guess) already filled in more than enough for the college.

Also, it was acceptable for the administration that less than ten college teachers were there, because they have the legitimate excuse of grading papers for the course card distribution scheduled the next day.

What I don’t know is if there will be a move next year to schedule the party so that more college teachers will attend.

@@ Speaking of Christmas parties, I don’t know if one is set for the college faculty for our own office.

There are talks now that it may be held in the house of the Director of the School of Engineering, just like last year.

Will there be teachers who won’t be able to attend because of prior plans? I wouldn’t be surprised.

@@ Some people use the opportunity for emotionally charged meetings to pray for strength from the divine.

I guess this has to do with things that cannot be avoided and things that can be changed, and knowing the difference. There’s also about knowing when to hold them, when to fold them and when to run.

@@ We had an engineering faculty meeting earlier, where the director thankfully asked all the students to leave the room and locked the door, forcing those who arrived late to wait outside.

What was surprising about this was when someone from the registrar’s office showed up with an applicant for interview. So they just walk in now and are immediately accommodated?

Session 2493 has the right to be called first and to decline meeting with potential enrollees if not in the mood. Class dismissed.
