"Leave Me Out of It"

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to act neutral. Both sides believe as they so desperately want that you are down with their cause, and trust you implicitly.

And if they know that you're also attending meetings with the "other camp" and ask you questions about what's going on there, but know you can't answer, they read meanings into every pause and every phrase construction you do answer.

You can't even confide to anyone about it because they'll then entertain suspicions that you're now a spy for the other side, and watch what they say around you.

Come to think of it, that's not so bad. Maybe that way they'll leave me out of their arguments completely.

@@ I feel sorry for one of my co-teachers right now. He has a special class where a certain student is one of only two enrollees there, so he has to meet them in the faculty room.

I don't think just giving reading assignments will work for this person, because even if he does read, he probably will still have lots of questions and misconceptions.

In fact right now he seems to be in the middle of another new project where he is consulting with some of the engineering teachers on basic concepts.

Maybe that's why his parents foisted him off to a technical school, so that he won't bug them with questions anymore that more or less imply he wants you to research for him.

I can understand how the overwhelming amount of quote-unquote knowledge on the net can make him more confused than clear, but if he's going to end up asking questions to people anyway, then he's not the one who's experimenting.

He is then acting like this boss in a laboratory with underlings, maybe like his dad works.

I really can't see how he'll survive in a practicum environment with people who don't have to put up with his behavior. They'll just kick him out nonplussed.

Maybe then his parents will accept what a social misfit they've created, and let him stay in his own laboratory in their house for the rest of his life, not bothering others.

Session 2551 realizes how mean it sounds judging someone's life like that. Class dismissed.
