Using Administrative Connections To Say What I Feel

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Just got to be part of the extended operations council meeting this afternoon - that, not surprisingly, again railroaded over my computer systems organization class.

I got to see some of the other departments with their reports and concerns, and was able to announce the winners of the recent student council election.

I did get somewhat of a reprimand from the special projects director about not allowing the students to think that they can just move the dates of the school weeks next time.

After all, there is the publicity for outside the campus to think about, and the need for consistency.

@@ During the report of the physical facilities director, maybe I should have said something about not allowing cars to park near the smoking area, as well as the possibility of the eventual demolition of the smoking area.

@@ My take on the college faculty stand off, which the brother president reported on just so that the other members of the community won't hear of it from other sources:

The college faculty members have been pampered by the previous administration in being unnecessarily consulted on decisions that the executive vice president should make himself, such as attendance checking.

Next, they have to accept that change in administration means change in policies.

At least now I see the president's dilemma in thinking that the directors have to be his liaisons to the rest of the faculty, but he's frustrated in that.

I don't know how effective will be this: his next move of talking to the faculty one by one.

Will they show solidarity or will the silent majority talk about their qualms?

Will the vocal minority think of this as a dividing tactic, looking for weak spots in the "unity"?

At least he's also prepared for the possible legal action that the faculty could take.

Session 2581 is caught in the middle. Class dismissed.
