Being The Run-To of Tattle Tales

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Today I saw how an only child, a college student, cuddles up to her mother when in school, the same way she would have otherwise cuddled up to a close friend or a sister.

She even bit her mother on the arm twice, despite half stern warnings. I finally had to ironically tell her to behave, saying "Is that what we teach you here in school?"

@@ I now realize the reason why we have meetings; it's so that everyone is informed on the actions and decisions towards an event at the same time, and could voice out complaints.

I've otherwise been the center of a lot of action where some of the workers want me to make a spot judgment on something when I know it's the bailiwick of someone else.

So far what has passed through my ears is about there being only two judges instead of three, the quality of the tokens being given to them, complaints about the shirt, and the lack of support as to the transportation needed by the guests.

Some of these things were discussed in meetings then asked by someone who was not present; others were brought up during the meeting, though they should have been.

It also makes me reflect on the importance of delegation, that there really should be someone assigned for each area, so that there will be no spillage of responsibility.

@@ There is one thing about the most recent retreat that I've been forgetting to post here.

Instead of having one facilitator just like the last two years, this time we have two. The second one is someone that the first facilitator had worked with before and who we met here during one of the earlier sessions this year, and takes over from the first one after about half a day's worth of activities.

There is a marked difference in their styles, and the second one seems clumsier with equipment as well as with the stumbling that happens in his words, but it's me who notices, not the students. A lot of the "scripts" that they have for the readings and the explorations though, are the same, maybe shared.

But the most distinct difference between their styles is that in one o the activities, listing "people who have helped me know God" into "experiences where I am sure God was present" - in other words, miracles.

Session 2589 is just waiting for later. Class dismissed.
