"Code Monkey Not Say This Out Loud"

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

The employee story from some of the previous posts has several epilogues.

First, on employee's birthday last Saturday, he sent a text message to one of his co-workers.

It was asking for mobile phone credit from the boss. It's ironic since part of the reason why boss doesn't want the ex-employee back is because he left without paying the previous mobile phone credit that had been sent to his phone.

Who cares if it's ex-employee's birthday? Boss only gives gifts to those he appreciates.

On the next day, boss received four identical messages from ex-employee, basically saying "how are you?" Boss did not reply. Boss is the type who knows that any form of communication can be misinterpreted, and then it becomes a contest between sender and what was actually meant and receiver and what is perceived to have been the message, and arguments that "if this is what you meant to say, you would have worded it this way."

Silence, on the other hand, is very difficult to re-conjecture besides "I don't want to talk to you."

Besides, there are people out there who have the mistaken assumption that if someone replies to them, even just to say "I'm still mad at you," that it connotes there will be a time when he won't be mad anymore, so there's still hope.

Boss would really like to tell ex-employee off, but only in the proper venue.

Ex-employee has to be willing to go back to work at another branch, and maybe realize first hand that he already had a godsend of an employer that he abused.

If he does not give up at that new branch, then his ex-boss will visit him one day and ask him if he has learned his lesson, and if not, will tell him what he did wrong.

But it cannot be on the ex-employee's terms that he wants to go back to the boss' branch, and doesn't want to work anywhere else, especially since he has already been told that conditions are not as good at other branches.

Boss believes that the only way some people will learn their lesson is if they realize the finality of the consequences of some of their actions.
