All Drowning Together

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

And according to news sources online, classes in college are supposed to be suspended until Saturday.

This will wreak havoc on our activities, particularly the culmination for the month of teachers on Monday.

At the same time, as I hinted in the student accessible version, for the same reason (using the supplier of the uniforms as an excuse) the student council has moved the opening of their sports fest.

What is funny is that they had to write the same letters again as before about requesting for full use of the covered courts from the principal of the integrated school.

I asked them if they had already sent the previous letter and they said yes. So I said there should be mention of that original schedule in the next letter, and not just changing the date with no explanation. Did they think the principal is a robot with no memory?

At the same time, there is now some flak trickling down from the office of the dean about the activities for the month of teachers. Institutional efforts are different from college efforts I was told.

It all boils down to having different levels of expectation. I was of the impression that what was being done was enough.

In light of the dozens of suggestions from teachers who have such grand visions but not having the experience enough to know the amount of work involved in their suggestions, particularly with everything else that the students are doing, of course it will seem lacking.

It seems I will have to go back to documentation for everything, as suggested by the quality management speaker.

This is to remove the difference between what the students are telling the dean and what they are telling me.

At least at that point I will not care that the students will be labeling me as a slave driver.

If they cannot produce the output expected by the dean but insist on their own activities then all that will be to be recorded and presented to the dean come evaluation time.

I have the proof in the mailbox that I was able to forward to the students all the suggestions from the teachers before the term started. Next time I will not just pass it to them blindly but will carbon copy it to the dean with a note asking the student council president for her feedback as soon as possible, that way there will be no denial.

In another front, it was only now that the student council gave me letters of solicitation to sign for their sports fest, it matters not that it will be for the rest of the term, still too late.

Session 2815 still feels the water underfoot. Class dismissed.
