Three Different Things Occupying My Attention Right Now

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I am used to role playing games, particularly computer ones, where when one changes weapons and armor between levels, in preparation for fighting tougher foes with more endurance, you usually are rewarded enough money to get both at the same time.

I thought, up to this latest incarnation that that was always the case in this browser game I am playing.

Now I am finding it difficult to defeat the monsters at this level, but I do not have enough money to buy upgrades for both my weapon and my armor. So what do I choose?

I picked armor. It seemed better, I thought, to last longer by surviving all the blows of the enemy than it was to deal them more damage faster but at the same time losing hit points.

Well, I am still surviving, but barely. I still need to heal up after each encounter (something I used to do only when my hit points reached below fifty percent of maximum, but at least there is no death anymore – that frequently anyway. I still need to die at least one more time to collect enough favor points in the retraining pits to be able to get the blessed armor of the watcher, which converts the damage done to the enemy to additional hit points for me, requiring fewer trips to the hospital.

But at least it is something new I am experiencing with each incarnation, a new challenge thrown my way.

Maybe it is because I picked the head mounted laser as my initial weapon and not the ability that allows me to find more coins in the battlefield, up to 5 times per day at higher levels.

@@ Anyway, moving on to academic stuff, we had another expanded (or is it extended) operations council meeting today, this time in the supposed retirement home of the brothers on the city on the ridge of the volcano lake, away from the campus.

I wonder how many people looked for me in the interim, particularly since we all knew going in that there was no signal in the lower deck conference room we used.

I also wonder in the hospital that arranged for a therapist to handle foot massages of their so-called executive check-ups was also trying to call me up, because afterwards I was told that they never picked up the therapist from the spa at the appointed time.

@@ Okay, that is not academic stuff. I found out several more things about campus operations at the meeting.

There is a move to call all the parents of the freshmen to go to school so that the guidance counselor can tell them about the performance of their children from the first term. But this might be construed as an underhanded way of bypassing the association of parents.

Session 2841 cannot believe because of the ego of one person the college is immobilized. Class dismissed.
