Is there a word for the delight caused by encountering a real life instance of something one had previously only encountered as a word in the dictionary? A coworker showed me a marlinspike today. I had known that it was a sharp metal spike used by sailors in unpicking knots and splicing rope, but I didn't know what one looked like.

Part of me wonders if maybe I should be worried that my coworkers say things to me like, "Oh, hey, you like sharp things! Look at this!"

I mean, I do like sharp things, but is it really that obvious?
