Guess what? Yep, I FINALLY won a contest! It honestly pays to know your horror movies! I entered the FANGORIA BLOOD DRIVE contest and answered ALL the "Indie" questions right (I admit, two of the movies I had to guess on --shhhhhhhhh I must have been on a streak of good luck -because I guessed them right). Anyway -I WON! Then all the correct answers went into a drawing. Mine was drawn in FOURTH PLACE.

I WON a DVD MOVIE from KOCH films!! I'm such a happy girl!

There's a first --I WON something! Not for writing -dammit -but at least in a field that I seem to excel in: horror and movies! *sighs*

But I'm still happy just the same! Anyone got a grape Tootsie Pop for me?

I've been published by EOTU a few times (as has A-22-SDO Artist, Lizzy -my daughter). I always wondered what the heck EOTU stood for. I once asked Larry Dennis, editor, but I never received a response.

Months later there was a contest: EOTU what does it mean -CONTEST.

Well, we all sent in submissions with what we thought it meant.

ELIZABETH PEAKE Brutal Dreamer FOrum -I lost the URL (when my computer crashed a few months ago) to that forum and never saw the forums still listed at Lizzy's place -so I'm not sure if it is even available still. If it is, Liz, would you post the URL here?

My 'very hot' board is no longer available... damn, I earned that title too! When Terror Tales changed hands (From Johnny Ford to Hertzan Chimera) we lost our original forums and Terror Scribes were given a new forum. Very cool ones at that (Hertzan did a very cool job on them) -so if you want to -drop in over there.

I can't remember the other urls/forums I had but if they are around and you find them -go ahead and post on them. I know one author told me he was posting on my TRIPOD forum still -hell I can't even remember that URL and it isn't on my tripod website anymore- so he's gabbing to himself over there and wondering where the hell I am at. I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack...
Happily, I can say, sickly or not -I'm back! I spent the morning working in my critique group. I finished a crit of a story that I rather liked very much. I enjoyed reading it a lot.

I wrote up a WotW (word of the week) story in there as well and posted it. I'm almost caught up in that group. Behind only one crit and one WotW story. Not too shabby.

I'm in the process of working on my SDO "Hell" prompt. I am most anxious to get caught up in that group. It's my favorite place to visit on the net and filled with the best members one could ask for. SUperb place to get to know writers, read sensational fiction (ghost, detective, and fantasy)genres, and the writing and discussion group just freakin' rocks. I'd be lost without it.

So, ever, so slowly I'm emerging from the rock I've hid under since late last year when shit hit the fan here. When my in-laws- got very ill and both died, my grandmother died, and it just seemed like an endless tragedy one after another --then a friend of mine had a sick little nephew that had to have double lung transplant (who by the way not only survived -but now 6 months later is home and doing well with of course, tests, and running miles from his home state of KY to my state of MO to the children's hospital in St. Louis. but oh so worth it. He's doing well and growing strong!)

So with all that and normal mundane life things happening -I tended to fold. I became a recluse and all but quit submitting my work (unless an editor contacted me and wanted a few submissions to pick from) and I waited for the fruits of my labor to just unwinde for the past few months. I'm still not batting a good average but at least I am up to bat and ready to try to hit a homer.

For those that don't know it- I run many contests for webmarkets/presses in the past. I run the contest, theme it, judge the stories (or pick out judges for it), I compile the contest and all that jazz and then send over the final project to the market. These are generally E-Anthologies (some have been print) anyway -I will be hosting another one for RAW DOG SCREAMING PRESS/THE DREAM PEOPLE owners, Jennifer Barnes and John Edward Lawson! This will be an E-ANTHOLOGY contest once more -winners will be published in the book (if any other prize is going to be given I'll let you know -depends on the funds I have left after spending to fix my car. LOL).

--I've talked with Jennifer, owner at RAW DOG SCREAMING/THE DREAM PEOPLE, and I am going to run another 'e-anthology' contest for authors as I did the SPLASHY and POPULAR: "DEAD in TH13TEEN flashes" book (if you want a copy let me know -these are FREE downloads) ...I just need to come up with a very cool theme again and get the guides worked up. I will keep you all posted on the upcoming project! (that contest I had over 60 entries -hope to have more than that with this one!)

--I was asked when I planned to run another TOOTSIE POP contest. Hmmm. I was asked that the last time and it didn't fair as well as the contest before it. I think I ended up with something like 10-12 submissions only. *heebies* We'll see... perhaps I will do one again. Authors generally either won: hardback/paperback books, audio books, music/cassettes or cds, movies (vhs/dvd), and of course topped with TOOTSIE POPS! I have a tleast 3 winners each time and a runner up! I fund the contest myself and I just can't afford that just now -not with my car costing as much as it is going to cost me.............. *zerberts on the car* But perhaps in a few months I'll see about it.

I'm in the process of completing a Detective short story! I've had a blast trying my hand in a new genre and I have truly been pleased with this one so far: my title is: "DEAD AIR" and it will go into my critique group and get chopped before I submit it anywhere.

I have a serious ear infection and it has truly been hell to deal with.

My car is in the shop --the head gasket must be replaced --setting me back well over a grand. Now I find out it also needs a new tension belt too. Keep padding to the bill and watch me go into the shithole. *cusses and blows chunks*

And my kitty seems to be coughing up a hair ball. OH goody goody that will be fun ....

Guess what? Dee Snyder holds SICK: An Anthology of Illness that I have a very sick story "Along Came Auntie Rose Mary" in.

Dee Snyder is from Twisted Sister and hosts several music video shows. (yes, a guilty pleasure of mine is watching the 80's hair bands on the music video stations) He's a total cut-up! He has the book SICK and I'm in it! (writing as Brutal Dreamer) of course! Can anyone say FREAKED OUT! just a wee bit!
