The field school will last for six weeks. Fridays are off. Participants are allowed to leave on Thursday afternoon as soon as the field work is finished (at 2:00 pm) and have to be back on Friday night. We will stay in a camp in the village of Tunis. From there we will go by car to the site of Medinet Watfa which is at a distance of approximately 5 km. The day schedule will be followed strictly on time. Please, do not be late for the activities so your team members do not have to wait for you. Your enthusiasm and team spirit are part of the requirements for a successfull archaeological excavation. The day schedule is as follows: 5:00 am Wake up call 5:15 am A light breakfast is served, consisting of tea, coffee and biscuits. 6:00 am First team ("Team A") leaves for the site by car, the next week the other team ("Team B") will leave the earliest. 6:15 am Second team ("Team B") will leave for the site by car. 9:30 - 10:00 Second breakfast, on site. This will be a more substantial breakfast with bread, cheese, olives, beans or tamiya. 2:00 pm First team ("Team A") leaves for the camp 2:15 pm Second team ("Team B") leaves for the camp 2:30 pm Lunch is served. This will be the main meal of the day. 3:30 pm Afternoon program: recording some trainees will be working on the finds (assisting with finds registration, pottery washing and selection, pottery drawing, photography, finds analysis) Others will go back to the site to draw the daily top plan or work on the site plan. 5:30 pm Field group returns to the camp 6:00 pm Lecture (not every day) 7:00 pm Dinner. A light meal of soup, sandwiches and fruit. 7:45 pm Supervisor daily meeting. 8:00 pm End of program. 9:00 pm Silence in the camp Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
