2002-12-12 9:16 PM Just when you thought things were calming down... Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Exhausted Read/Post Comments (2) So, it's been a while since I posted anything. The only big news is that I'm pretty much done for the semester. I figured this meant I was going to get to wind down, relax, and take it easy before my trip to Boston, and the Spring semester. Nope. Around 12:30 in the morning yesterday, I was woken up by a call on my cell phone. It was my father, calling from his bedroom, and asking me to get in there. I came in to find him on the floor, and very ill (I'll skip the details). After an hour had passed, he gave up on fighting his dizziness and let me call an ambulance. I then sat with him in an ER until about 5 AM, at which point he sent me off to my last full day of class. In the meantime, the ER transferred him to the ER of the hospital that we're insured with, where they checked him out all over again. Knowing he was in the right hospital, but not yet in a room, I decided to take of Jen, who was also sick as a dog, and was supposed to drive down to LAX to get her mom. No way in hell was I letting her do that. So once I was sure that my dad wasn't actually settled yet, I headed on over. She wasn't kidding when she told me she was sick, she even brought a bucket with her. Fortunately, due to my expert driving skills *coughcough*, it wasn't needed, and we picked up Jen's mom and I brought them back without incident. At this point, I headed to the hospital to spend some time with my dad, since he was finally in a room. When I got there, I was informed that I had to wear a mask and gloves to see him, since he had coughed up something pink and they were worried about TB. This was not what I needed to find out on arriving there. He and I talked, and he explained that they thought it was either pneumonia or congestive heart failure. Either way, it didn't seem like they were going to have to keep him in that long. This morning, he called me and confirmed that it was congestive heart failure. Apparently, the Chinese food we had eaten the night before was either so bad, or so salty, that it set off the condition (which we hadn't known was present). Fortunately, the doctors decided it was ok to send him home, so around 6:30 tonight, I brought him back. He's asleep, my brother's asleep, and I'm still too wound up to get to sleep, despite the fact that I had 2 hours of sleep night before last, and I've running around all day today, too. Oy.
