What is it they say? Dirty Hands=Clean Heart?

You probably thought, since you haven't heard from me for a little while, that all was going along swimmingly here. The boat was rescued and all was right with the world?

Well, then you'd probably be wrong.

Here, then, is a photographic essay of how things have gone with Paul this week, with the boat. A picture is worth oh, so many, many words, after all. Need I say more? (But of course, I will...just a little...)

These were taken around 10:30 a.m. (which is prime lobstering time-of-the-day) in my kitchen. Yes, Paul surprised me with an unexpected visit during the middle of the morning as I was doing some chores, so we sat down and discussed just why he was home at that time of the work day. I really didn't need too much information, his hands tell the whole story.

As you may have guessed, he has had boat troubles.

He wasn't sure what it was but came to the conclusion that it was something to do with the salt-water pump. Oh, and just so you'd believe me when I told you this, he had washed his hands in the basement before coming upstairs that morning... you can see that by his up-turned palms...see? nice and clean!

But as the days wore on this week, other possibilities sprung to mind, trips were made to Hansen Marine where something-or-other was rebuilt, then installed back into the boat.

The last thing I heard about the status of HRH Bollocks! was that she was "serviceable but iffy" - or words to that effect.

Dirty hands make no nevermind to a puppy who is just happy to see his "brother" home in the middle of a day, like this one. I was also happy to have him home since after we had our chat about his troubles, he went outside and did yard work.

Hey, this is the type of thing I signed up for when I said my "I will's" back 26 years and a week ago now. I knew the score. And the score is here.

I'm writing this now on a Friday, the 18th of May. I'm not exactly sure what day this all began but it was near the first of the week. Each day has proven to hold some answers and some questions, but he's been out all day lobstering today, so I'm hoping for the best since I haven't heard from him yet. And supper is almost cooked (which needs to be its own entry because I've invented two fabulous recipes), so he'd better be here soon!

Cheers,

Bex

UPDATE: The salt water pump was brought back to Hansen Marine and they found that some seals were broken, so it was fixed, re-installed, and seems to be working very well now. He's back in business!
